Not the most dedicated week....

Week of 7/30-8/5:
15.94 miles/2:30:53/9:27avg

So this week was what I like to call the “Blow Off” week. I actually have a good excuse but it’s hard to justify a 15 mile week.

Here’s my excuse… I have my Heart Rate test scheduled for Tuesday morning and I am suppose to be well rested. Now I was still planning on running my 13 on Saturday but I was out of town and out drinking until 3am so it was pretty easy to decide to run Sunday morning. Then when Sunday rolled around it was hot and I was still exhausted and thought probably running 13 would screw up my results. I know not the best excuse in the world, but it’s all I’ve got.

So overall I have to say the week was a small setback. My running dumped, especially at the end of the week, and my eating went to hell as I was out of town and drinking fairly frequently. I’ll try to do better next week but as it is my birthday I think there will be great temptation to eat poorly again, but I should at least get all my runs in. We’ll see.

I’ve still feeling good about my overall preparation for New York but I’m starting to get to the long part of the training. The mileage is climbing and I’m still a long way from the race. This middle part is always the hardest but I need to just stay in my routine and get it done.

I’m feeling better about my fitness level so that is good. I would still like to drop another 15 pounds before the marathon so I’m continuing to focus on my weight.

Oh… and a race update. I found a 5K in Ann Arbor that finishes on the 50 yard line of Michigan Stadium. I’ve added it, The Big House Big Heart 5K, to my list of upcoming races. Check it out and join me if you’re in town!

Have a great week!

Stumbled across your blog on my normal surfing for Hastings related picture on the internet. How'd you do in Summerfest? I had to leave before the finish of the race.

Summerfest was a bit slow but I am really trying to slow down. The running Guru's say I need to do my long run's slower. I'm not sure I believe them.
