10 Miles!

Workout: 10K

So I the workout calls for a 10K today, but as I am so far behind I thought I would at least run the 8 miles I was suppose to run last week, and if I was feeling up for it I would try to knock out 10 miles. The Hal Higdon Intermediate training calls out a 10 miler this week.

Well I have to say I was feeling pretty good. I just turned on the headphones and didn’t even count songs (which I usually do). Instead I just settled in and new I’d be on the treadmill for over an hour and a half.

I was running at 10’s thinking at this point it’s more important to be ready to run the Half than how fast I do it. But the thought kept going through my head that today’s 10 mile run would take me just 5 minutes less than last years half marathon (13 miles). I really need to get back into form… but not today.

The good news is everything felt good until mile nine. At that point me legs said “we’re done!” but I was able to talk them into keeping going.

So I finally feel like I will be ready for Moab. It may not be pretty and it will definitely not be fast but I think I should be able to complete the mileage and not be sucking wind so much that I’m not having fun.
