First week back in training!

Well I’m finally back in training. I have just under 12 weeks to the Cayonlands Half and am using the Hal Higdon intermediate. I can tell I have a long way to go, but it felt good getting 5 solid days of running in.

I’m not even close to where I was in June but that’s OK. I think I really needed to take some time off after Chicago. Mentally I just found it hard to get myself out the door. But now I’m enjoying my runs more although I will be happier when I get in better shape. I’m feeling the 3 milers way too much.

My “big” run of the week was a 6 miler on Saturday. I was actually dreading it a bit but ended up having a great run. I ran out State Road which is a good rout. It breaks up nicely with lots to look at. I was definitely tired by the end but felt pretty good overall. And on Sunday I clicked off three miles at an 8:40 pace. Not bad considering I’ve been running 9:15’s all week.

I now need to get my weight down a bit as I packed on 15 pounds since October but that will come with watching what I eat a little more closely and upping my mileage a bit.
